Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. Her family made the move to Oxfordshire when she was five which is where she went to at the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized that she wanted to be an actress. For some time she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied the art of acting and dancing. It was already her turn to perform in a variety of Stagecoach or school shows before she turned ten. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents stumbled upon Emma via her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been selected for the roles. They cast her alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut film appearance came as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It set new records for first-day openings and weekday openings and was the highest-grossing film in the year 2001. Film critics praised the film as well as its performances by the three acclaimed young actors. The well-known British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma took home the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in the Feature Film. Emma was awarded five times for her work in the film.
